[-ʃi-], eine der drei Landschaften Japans, die in der Dichtkunst als schönste gepriesen und oft in der Kunst dargestellt werden. Sie liegt etwa 150 km nördlich von Kyōto am Japanischen Meer. In der pinienbewachsenen, schmalen und 3,6 km langen Landzunge, die die Miyazubucht abschließt, sehen die Japaner die mythologische »Himmelsbrücke«, von der aus das göttliche Urelternpaar Izanagi und Izanami Japan schuf.
